For the last few years, Google India has worked to increase Internet usage in our country of a billion people via various products such as SMS Search , Voice Search, and Google Map Maker, translating our interfaces into Indian languages. They've also worked on numerous initiatives to increase the quality of search with useful local information like business listings, railways and flight status, and cricket scores. They've been witnessing a steady growth in Internet adoption, but as impatient observers, we wanted to do more to directly engage the offline population of India.

Google the IT major and NASA the space major are collaborating to create a new university named as Singular University.

The Singularity University was recently announced at the TED conference this week. It is established based on Ray Kurzweil’s futuristic The Singularity is Near - a very non-mainstream ‘forecast’ on AI, robotics and what future human life would be like. The SU is sponsored by wealthy individuals who support scientific breakthroughs (X-Prize, Google, VCs etc), and had a founding conference comprising who’s-who luminaries in the futuring and ‘extension of humanity and technology’ fields. SU aims to bring together graduate students working in different fields, to look at same problems from different lenses for new breakthroughs. Eg. Nanotech student gets expert briefings in futures studies & finance etc amongst 10 disciplines. Faculty includes science celebrities, and students are also expected to pitch ideas to nearby VCs for funding. SU is located in one of NASA’s research centres in Silicon Valley.

a 9 year old kid named Lim Ding Wen from Singapore has been writing applications for iPhone. Isnt this cool? His latest, a painting program called Doodle Kids, has been downloaded over 4,000 times from AppStore in less than two weeks.

The program lets iPhone users draw with their fingers by touching the iPhone’s touchscreen and then clear the screen by shaking the phone. “I wrote the program for my younger sisters, who like to draw,” Lim said. His sisters are aged 3 and 5.

Lim’s father, Lim Thye Chean is a chief technology officer at a local technology firm, also writes iPhone applications.

Google today announced the much awaited feature the offline gmail.Now you can access your inbox while youre not connected to the internet. So even if you're offline, you can open your web browser, go to gmail.com, and get to your mail just like you're used to.There will be no need to use outlook or something like that.

Once you turn on this feature, Gmail uses Gears to download a local cache of your mail. As long as you're connected to the network, that cache is synchronized with Gmail's servers. When you lose your connection, Gmail automatically switches to offline mode, and uses the data stored on your computer's hard drive instead of the information sent across the network. You can read messages, star and label them, and do all of the things you're used to doing while reading your webmail online. Any messages you send while offline will be placed in your outbox and automatically sent the next time Gmail detects a connection. And if you're on an unreliable or slow connection (like when you're "borrowing" your neighbor's wireless), you can choose to use "flaky connection mode," which is somewhere in between: it uses the local cache as if you were disconnected, but still synchronizes your mail with the server in the background
Offline Gmail is still an early experimental feature.It is currently available to the US and UK users.Soon it will be availablet to all the users.

Microsoft also in RC1 expanded the functionality of a feature it introduced in the IE8 beta 2 release called InPrivate. Alienware’s new curved monitor caused quite a stir when it was revealed here at CES. It seemed like the natural evolution of monitor technology had finally arrived. After all, the human eye is curved, so why shouldn’t our monitors curve too? What a great idea.
So is it that great? Well, it’s as quick as curved. Not that any of that means much right now, because this monitor has major problems.

One of the more intriguing technologies at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) being held this week is a 42-inch-long, curved monitor. Made by Alienware, the monitor is supposed to simulate peripheral vision. The sci-fi-like screen is aimed at gamers for a more immersive experience, although it might not be as suitable for design or text work.

If 42 inches is still not big enough for you, it’s possible to put two of these monitors side-by-side for a dual monitor configuration.

Another issue is the image quality. While the picture seemed sharp, it lacked color depth, appearing altogether faded. And ultimately, I care far more about image quality than the shape of the box.

CES was dominated by another display technology–3D glasses. Yes, the technology that has moved from gimmick to money-maker in the movie industry is still being pushed on the PC. And though it has progressed since the 90s, 3D gaming monitors and glasses still haven’t gotten to the point of usefulness. Every pair I tried left me disappointed and cross-eyed.

In the same way, I’m not sure this monitor is ready. It will surely be too expensive to even contemplate, requiring an even costlier PC to run a game at such a massive resolution. Beyond the obvious flaws that need to be addressed, it’s just plain bulky–and while I wouldn’t place the curving monitor into the realm of pure gimmick, in person, it only really qualifies as “neat.”

Form Autocomplete. Google Chrome remembers what you've typed into fields on

or Internet Explorer.

Full-page zoom. Previously, page zoom (Ctrl++ or Ctrl+-) increased or decreased

HTTPS-only browsing mode:This new feature lets users add “force-https to your Google Chrome
shortcut” to only load Web sites with valid security certificates.
“Sites with SSL certificate errors will not load".

Spell-checking improvements. You can now enable or disable spell checking in a text
field by right-clicking in the field. You can also change the
spell-checking language by right clicking. To enable spell-checking in
a language, add it to the list of 'languages you use to read web sites'
in the Fonts and Languages dialog ([Wrench] > Options > Minor
Tweaks > Fonts and Languages).

Autoscroll. Many users have asked for this and (thanks to our WebKit update), we

HP unviels mini laptop notebook

HP has introduced the Mini 2140, an updated Mini-Note 2133 version, with a 10.1-inch LED backlit screen. Priced at $500 (Rs. 24,000 approx.), Mini 2140 will be showcased at the CES 2009 and will be available later this month. It might take a while for it to hit the Indian markets.

Apple's aluminum unibody manufacturing technology seems to have inspired a lot of other notebook makers. HP Mini 2140 is identical to the Mini-Note 2133, has an all aluminum casing, and weighs 2.6 pounds. The Mini 2140 notebook features a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor unlike the Mini-Note 2133, which features a 1.2GHz Via C7-M processor. Also, the netbook has a scratch resistant 10.1-inch HP Illumi-Lite LED backlight screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio offering standard definition (1024x576) or high definition (1366x768) pixel resolutions.

The Mini 2140 offers storage options of a 160GB HDD or a 80GB SSD. It features the HP 3D DriveGuard software and a three-axis digital accelerometer chip that shuts down the PC if the computer undergoes a sudden shock. It also offers the user a choice of operating systems, the Windows Vista, SuSE Linux, or FreeDOS. For a lightweight configuration, the netbook packs in a three-cell battery and for operations requiring a longer battery life a six-cell battery option is available. Other specifications include WLAN, Bluetooth 2.0, and a VGA webcam. The Mini 2140 has a full ExpressCard/54 slot unlike Lenovo S10's small ExpressCard/34 slot.

Currently priced at $500 (Rs. 24,000 approx.), the price might shoot up a bit when it reaches the Indian markets, Mini 2140 is expected later this month.

CONCEPT LAPTOPS (FOR USE IN 2025)

The Compenion is a concept laptop designed by Felix Schmidberger.
The system contains of a personal computer you take with you during the day (middle), several context-oriented docking stations, for example a home entertainment station for your living room (left), a "senstylus pen" to control the computer and a leather etui.
The personal computer is a slider with hidden second touchscreen. The second OLED touchscreen serves both as monitor and keyboard. You can place exactly the controls there that you need at the moment or have individual styles and themes to fit your taste.

The company didn’t talk much about this notebook but it wanted us to have a view about how the future HP notebooks would look like.

8. V12 Design, an industrial and engineering studio from Italy presented the Canova Dual Touch Screen Laptop to show us all how a futuristic 2-displays system would look like, and indeed it is interesting, but not that close to the near future’s reality to deserve a better position in our top.

This notebook would have 2 touch-sensitive displays and more than that they would support the multi-touch technology.

The concept would be helpful for those that work with graphic editors - one of the 2 displays would be the monitor while the other one would transform into a keyboard – but it’d also provide sketch pad, graph paper, music score, the electronic pen and a special hardware configuration to meet the smooth functioning requirements.

7. On the 7th position we have the concept coming from Fujitsu, exposed at CEATEC, designed with the focus on one large sector as you would see.
It is equipped with touch keypad, backlit display, a 5.1 surround sound system, music keys, and second display for showing detailed information about the song playing. In conclusion it would be the perfect mobile digital player.

Fujitsu DJ laptop, as it was called, has a 20-inch primary LCD display easily folded closed to enable the turntable function, which can be accessed via a touch-sensitive screen on the outside.
This concept is focused on the music sector but has other impressive capabilities so we decided to leave it on this place in our top, and to search for something with more functionalities and dedicated to all domains.

6. Now comes the Flexi PDA concept which is very cool but not for those that prefer something stylish or neutral.
What’s unique here is the flexible display that would allow us to open the system and change its form, as Daniel Alexander, its designer describes it.

According to him, this laptop would fold base on the flexible screen technology, allowing us to use it as a mobile phone even outside because it is also waterproof.

It occupies place number 6 because its look would not be on everyone’s taste.

5. The green concept here is called Gelfrog and was conceived by the Frog Design team that made it so lightweight and thin so anyone could carry it as a news paper.
It’s made from a super-pliable rubberized material that would act like a mobile mirror, picture slide show and even a video projector.

And now the unrealistic part:
Gelfrog uses something like a cloning algorithm that scans people’s outfits to project a matching pattern on its own surface, allowing people to scan images from around and then study different subjects using the same interface.

Too futuristic but cool enough to be on the 5th position.

4. Closer to reality is Fujitsu Fab PC laptop concept that has an electronic paper display type, e-ink, with tissue covering, which makes it very flexible and lightweight.

It would look like an office folder when opened.

3. Intel had a great idea too, after collaborating with Ziba Design, and came up with this 0.7 inches thick laptop having a width of 17.7 inches and a weight of 2.25 pounds (1Kg).
Again we encounter the e-ink material for an external display that would show a photo, the calendar, or your daily schedule.

The Intel Mobile Metro notebook meets the following requirements: it is modern, supports all wireless network types and the latest mobile computing capabilities.
According to Roger Kay, the president of consultancy Endpoint Technologies Associates, for this concept, Intel used high quality resistant materials such as champagne-colored magnesium and decorated it with gold accents.

In Ziba’s view, this notebook is like a jewelry.
Intel Mobile Metro has a diary-like folder attached to it via magnets, capable of wireless charging.

2. Compenion prototype is on the 2nd place because of its two OLED touch-sensitive displays from which one would be used as keyboard, while the other one as an additional display.
Felix Schhmidberger wanted it to have a slider design and to serve as a series of docking stations.

The home dock would have a projector for viewing videos, and the office would have an ergonomic keyboard for example.
The multi-touch screen would be accessed with both fingers and a senstylus.

This notebook could have many different functionalities and has a great look too but we had to put it in the same balance with the Vaio Zoom concept, and you will see why Compenion remained on this position.

how to hack dc++ and how to fake share

First Note:
DC++ is a advertisement free, P2P file sharing client.
BCDC++, fulDC, StrongDC, ApexDC, LinuxDC++ are some of the popular mods.
I am using fulDC as a standard for this tutorial.

The Hub Admin can set a minimum amount of share you must have to connect to the hub. If you find the restrictions insane, you have other options.

Trick 1 : Network Share
It allows direct network shares as in \\173.23.24.112\movies etc. More interestingly, if you dont want to depend on others, you can have your own network shares hashed like \\mypc\movies. If that is not sufficient, you can also share a subfolder like \\mypc\movies\korean and hash it differently ( The client assumes both of them to be different ). So, you have now effectively shared korean folder thrice. This funda can go upto (sub)^n folders.

Trick 2: Fake Files
Some softwares allow you to create files which show huge file size though they consume only a few kbs on your hard-disk. This one is my favourite - Huge Small File. It allows you to create upto 4GB file which consumes about 5kb of your disk.
But creating a insane number of shares will drag the attention of your peers/admins. Name those files which nobody ever want to check out( Use your creativity depending on your hub peers). FYI, Whenever somebody else downloads that file, he will download the file of 4 GB (or whatever) size. So, its quite safe.

Trick 3: Fake Shares
For this, you need to know how does DC work. Your share information are stored in three files, files.xml.bz2, shares.xml.bz2 and HashIndex.xml. Just look at the organisation of these files, Everything is self-Explanatory.
Use bzip2 for decompression into .xml and compression back to .xml.bz2. Remember to set your preferences not to refresh file list.
Just an example:
Lets increase the size of a file. First locate the already hashed file in HashIndex.xml under , then copy the Root of the file in the same line and search for it under , change the size of the file in the same line. Now decompress files.xml.bz2 and share.xml.bz2 into .xml formats and search for the same file again and change the file size. Now compress both of them back into .bz2 and replace the original files.
Similarly, you can add more files which are actually not there, or copy and paste few lines (can be yours or your friends) under a dummy directory.

Recently I found out a trick in gmail that I felt very interesting.The trick is like having a gmail address and making many gmail addresses by using the simple operators like .,+.

Gmail doesn't differentiate between the following addresses

some other mail id with . in middle

                                        The trick here is suppose you have a gmail id yourname@gmail.com you will recieve the mails sent to any combination of your email id with . operator

2) The second trick is using the + operator.You can add some random text using the +operator to your gmail id
FOR EXample: raghubharat+yourtext@gmail.com

                                             Hence beware of spammers who can send emails to these.I recommend you to keep some random number to have a unique id.

1. Place your Windows XP CD in your cd-rom and start your computer (it’s assumed here that your XP CD is bootable – as it should be - and that you have your bios set to boot from CD)

2. Keep your eye on the screen messages for booting to your cd Typically, it will be “Press any key to boot from cd”

3. Once you get in, the first screen will indicate that Setup is inspecting your system and loading files.

4. When you get to the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to Setup Windows now

5. The Licensing Agreement comes next - Press F8 to accept it.

6. The next screen is the Setup screen which gives you the option to do a Repair. It should read something like “If one of the following Windows XP installations is damaged, Setup can try to repair it”

Use the up and down arrow keys to select your XP installation (if you only have one, it should already be selected) and press R to begin the Repair process.

7. Let the Repair run. Setup will now check your disks and then start copying files which can take several minutes.

8. Shortly after the Copying Files stage, you will be required to reboot. (this will happen automatically – you will see a progress bar stating “Your computer will reboot in 15 seconds”

9. During the reboot, do not make the mistake of “pressing any key” to boot from the CD again! Setup will resume automatically with the standard billboard screens and you will notice Installing Windows is highlighted.

10. Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen and when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. This is the security hole! A command console will now open up giving you the potential for wide access to your system.

11. At the prompt, type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. Voila! You have just gained graphical access to your User Accounts in the Control Panel.

12. Now simply pick the account you need to change and remove or change your password as you prefer. If you want to log on without having to enter your new password, you can type control userpasswords2 at the prompt and choose to log on without being asked for password. After you’ve made your changes close the windows, exit the command box and continue on with the Repair (have your Product key handy).

13. Once the Repair is done, you will be able to log on with your new password (or without a password if you chose not to use one or if you chose not to be asked for a password). Your programs and personalized settings should remain intact.

Simple trick to check which programs are making connections to internet

If you are worried that some programs on your PC are secretly making connections to websites in the background, here's a quick tip that uses a simple DOS command to detect and prevent such suspicious activity:

1. Type cmd in your Windows Run box.
2. Type "netstat -b 5 > activity.txt" and press enter. After say 2 minutes, press Ctrl+C.
3. Type "activity.txt" on the command line to open the log file in notepad (or your default text editor)

The file activity.txt will have a log of all process that made a connection to the Internet in the last two minutes. It will also show which process connected to which website in this time. And not just the web browsers (like iexplore.exe or opera.exe), the log will also show your IM clients, download managers, email programs or any software that requires a net connection.

Scroll though the activity.txt file and look for any process names or website addresses that you are not aware of. If you track one , go to the task manager (or Process Explorer) to find the location of the executable on your computer and eliminate it.

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Open notepad and type '.LOG' (CASE SENSITIVE) as the first line of the file.Save and close the file .

Double-click the file to open it and notice that Notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the next line.

Type your notes and then save and close the file.

Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, appending the time and date to the end of the file and placing the cursor below it.

1. first create a newfolder and place some images init

Picasa is a software application for organizing and editing digital photos , by Google . In July 2004, Google began offering Picasa for free download .

As a picasa user i find it more easy to organise images on my computer very easily. The main advantage of picasa is it scans the whole computer and makes all pictures availavble to view and modify by using picasa.

the left pane indicates the folders menu and the bottom menu shows options for albums.The centre pane shows the images in the current folder.

And the main feature i prefer is the search box on the top right.This is very handy to search for a folder or a image on whole computer.
