ACCESS GMAIL BEING OFFLINE

Google today announced the much awaited feature the offline gmail. Now you can access your inbox while youre not connected to the internet. So even if you're offline, you can open your web browser, go to gmail.com, and get to your mail just like you're used to.There will be no need to use outlook or something like that.
Once you turn on this feature, Gmail uses Gears to download a local cache of your mail. As long as you're connected to the network, that cache is synchronized with Gmail's servers. When you lose your connection, Gmail automatically switches to offline mode, and uses the data stored on your computer's hard drive instead of the information sent across the network. You can read messages, star and label them, and do all of the things you're used to doing while reading your webmail online. Any messages you send while offline will be placed in your outbox and automatically sent the next time Gmail detects a connection. And if you're on an unreliable or slow connection (like when you're "borrowing" your neighbor's wireless), you can choose to use "flaky connection mode," which is somewhere in between: it uses the local cache as if you were disconnected, but still synchronizes your mail with the server in the background
Offline Gmail is still an early experimental feature. It is currently available to the US and UK users.Soon it will be availablet to all the users.
To setup this feature:

  1. Click Settings and click the Labs tab.
  2. Select Enable next to Offline Gmail.
  3. Click Save Changes.
  4. After your browser reloads, you'll see a new "Offline0.1" link in the upper righthand corner of your account, next to your username. Click this link to start the offline set up process and download Gears if you don't already have it.

INTERNET EXPLORER 8 RELEASED TODAY

Microsoft today announced the 8th version of internet explorer. The version is named RC1.It stands for Release Candidate 1.Release candidate software is ready to be evaluated by users while it undergoes final testing. You may experience minor bugs or compatibility issues with websites while browsing. The microsoft is still trying to inject the silver light into the market by  giving notification while downloading the ie8.Dont know why the microsoft still tries..!!!.

RELEASE NOTES

This version comes with a lot of compatibility issues with google toolbar and skype etc for some of their versions. This version has the new click jacking protection. So what is click jacking??
Clickjacking lets hackers put a transparent filter on sites so they can view what information a user is accessing and what activities that user is doing, said James Pratt, an IE senior product manager at Microsoft. For example, if someone is on a bank Web site, attackers can use clickjacking to see the user's bank information and acquire passwords, and the user will not know the information is being viewed remotely, he said.
The security feature that thwarts clickjacking in IE8 RC1 allows Web-site content owners to put a tag in a page header that will help detect and prevent clickjacking. If a site that uses the IE8 tag detects clickjacking, it will give Web users an error screen letting them know that the content host has chosen not to allow that content, and gives them the option to open the content in a new window that is protected from the attack.
Microsoft also in RC1 expanded the functionality of a feature it introduced in the IE8 beta 2 release called InPrivate. InPrivate has two settings -- InPrivate Browsing, which lets users browse the Web without creating a record of where they've been or enabling cookies, and InPrivate Blocking, which has been renamed in RC1 to InPrivate Filtering.
Lets see what this version can do to change the firefox dominanace.

PLAY GAMES ON GTALK

www.gtalkbots.com introduced the worlds first gtalk game.Anagram, many of you might be familiar with it or even played many a times back in school and colleges.
A few important points:
  1. Add games@gtalkbots.com as your friend in Gtalk Messenger.
  2. Type rules to read them before you start gaming.

  3. Type anagram to start gaming.
  4. You will be given a jumbled word which you needs to rearrange and reply back.
  5. If your answer is correct you get 10 Points.
  6. If your answer is not correct and you are finding it tough to solve it, Type hint to get a clue, and a clue will be sent to all users playing the game.

  7. DO NOT FORGET to type exit when you are finished gaming. If you forget to do so, you will be considered as a part of next round being played and eventually your average score decreases.
  8. If total number of wrong answers = 5 (including all users), the bot will automatically reply back with correct answer and moves to the next word.
If you dont even register in the website you can play the game the bot allocates a random username for you and you can start playing ...
A resolution of 2880×900. Dimensions equivalent to two 24″ widescreen monitors standing end-to-end. DLP rear projection on a curved screen, with OLED illumination. An insignificant .02ms response time.
Alienware’s new curved monitor caused quite a stir when it was revealed here at CES. It seemed like the natural evolution of monitor technology had finally arrived. After all, the human eye is curved, so why shouldn’t our monitors curve too? What a great idea.
So is it that great? Well, it’s as quick as curved. Not that any of that means much right now, because this monitor has major problems.
One of the more intriguing technologies at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) being held this week is a 42-inch-long, curved monitor. Made by Alienware, the monitor is supposed to simulate peripheral vision. The sci-fi-like screen is aimed at gamers for a more immersive experience, although it might not be as suitable for design or text work.
If 42 inches is still not big enough for you, it’s possible to put two of these monitors side-by-side for a dual monitor configuration.

Another issue is the image quality. While the picture seemed sharp, it lacked color depth, appearing altogether faded. And ultimately, I care far more about image quality than the shape of the box.
CES was dominated by another display technology–3D glasses. Yes, the technology that has moved from gimmick to money-maker in the movie industry is still being pushed on the PC. And though it has progressed since the 90s, 3D gaming monitors and glasses still haven’t gotten to the point of usefulness. Every pair I tried left me disappointed and cross-eyed.
In the same way, I’m not sure this monitor is ready. It will surely be too expensive to even contemplate, requiring an even costlier PC to run a game at such a massive resolution. Beyond the obvious flaws that need to be addressed, it’s just plain bulky–and while I wouldn’t place the curving monitor into the realm of pure gimmick, in person, it only really qualifies as “neat.”

ABOUT: WHAT YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT FIREFOX

about: A simple prompt without any parameter will display the Mozilla “about” information. Since it’s accessible from the top menus as well, it’s not quite a hidden feature.
about:buildconfig Obviously, it will show the build platform configuration and parameters
about:cache Will display info and statistics regarding your disk’s cache, including the name of your cache’s directory and a list of the entries you can find there. By default, Firefox doesn’t allow you to view the cached webpages, so this can be an useful option.
about:config Oh look, many many info. Indeed, it’s the most complex and meaningful of them all. Careful on what you plan to change here, your browser won’t run properly after if you play with the wrong things.
about:plugins Of course, what is Firefox without it’s powerful extensions? This option will display detailed information about all the plugins installed for Mozilla Firefox.
about:credits It’s time to give the credit to whoever deserves it. There’s an alphabetically sorted list of all the people that gave their contribution to the development of Firefox.
about:Mozilla This is a weird thing. It will display the so-called “Book of Mozilla”. Something similar was present in Netscape too. There’s actually no real book although the quotations might give you that impression.

Google launches the Prado layer in Google Earth allowing you to explore highly detailed photographic images of fourteen of the Prado Museum's masterpieces. The Prado Museum in Madrid is one of Spain's most visited destinations and via the Google Earth layer you can view and learn about its most famous paintings such s The Maids of Honor (Las Meninas) or The Three Graces (Las Tres Gracias)
Museo Prado layer in Google Earth

The Prado Museum has become the first art gallery in the world to provideaccess to and navigation of its Collection in Google Earth.  Using Google Earth, art historians, students and tourists everywhere can zoom
in on and explore the finer details of the artist's brushwork that can be easily missed at first glance.

The paintings have been photographed in very high resolution and contain as many as 14,000 million pixels (14 gigapixels). With this high level resolution you areable to see fine details such as the tiny bee on a flower in The Three Graces (Las Tres Gracias), delicate tears on the faces of the figures in The Descent from the Cross (El Descendimiento ) and complex figures in The Garden of Earthly Delights (El Jardin de las Delicias)
The Google Earth Prado layer also includes 3D models which allow you to flyaround the Prado buildings to experience the museum as if you were actually there.

To view the layer, select 3D buildings from the left panel and type 'Prado' in the 'fly to' search box.  You will thenbe transported to the Prado Museum in 3D

The detail, above, showing a tear fall from the eye of an onlooker as
the Body of Christ is taken down from the Cross, is from the
masterpiece The Descent of Christ from the Cross by Van der Weyden, which is displayed in El Prado, Madrid.where you can click on an icon
to view the masterpieces.

People wanting to view the masterpieces must first download and install Google Earth. They need to enable the programme’s 3D option and then travel to Madrid and click the button marking the Prado building.

The images were sewn together digitally from more than 8,000 high resolution photographs taken over six months.

Some of the masterpieces, such as the 3.3 by 2.8 metre portrait of Charles V, are so huge that it is impossible to get close enough to the original to see some details. “You would need a three-metre-high step-ladder,” said Clara Rivera of Google, who thought up the idea of a gigapixel gallery.
